Corresponding to the fluidity of nature, Tamika Grant-Iramu’s relief print carvings embrace randomness and the organic discovery of unexpected forms. Her prints capture visceral impressions of natural topographies and a unique sense of place and identity. They unite the artistic techniques and storytelling aesthetics from her Papua New Guinean, Torres Strait Islander and European roots.
Born and raised in Brisbane, Australia, Tamika graduated from Queensland College of Arts in 2017 with a BFA in Interdisciplinary Print Media. She further honed her craft as part of the Flying Arts Alliance Exhibition Development Program and the Blaklash Curatorial Exchange Program, both in Brisbane.
She has exhibited extensively across Australia, including solo shows in Queensland at Redland Regional Art Gallery and Artspace Mackay. Her works are held in several notable Australian collections, including the Australian Institute for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Studies, the National Gallery of Australia, the State Library of Queensland, and the University of Melbourne art collection. She frequently translates her prints into textiles and interior furnishings—most notably for Designer Rugs Australia—as well as into other mediums for public art installations.
Tamika Grant-Iramu is represented by Onespace, Brisbane.
